Andres S.
Andrés developed an international consciousness at a very early age when his family moved from Bogota to Miami. During his travels, Andrés acquired a passion for art, design, architecture, and furniture. At a young age, Andrés worked for an established fashion designer in Miami and was offered the opportunity to redesign the apartment of his employer, a one-bedroom dwelling located in the Art Deco District of Miami Beach. What started out as a pet project, turned into a very well received creative effort and as a result, Andrés’s interior designs were published in local Miami publications. He was praised for transforming the apartment into a beautifully designed contemporary and functional living space. He was also recognized for his impeccable attention to details, and his ability to tell a story with the space solutions.
In 2006 he started assisting private residential clients, after finishing his education in Barcelona, where he obtained a bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona and a masters in Interior Design from the Escola Massana. Andrés continued his international trajectory to evolve his design career into an international design powerhouse, by returning to Colombia in 2008 to focus on new markets and possibilities. Back in Colombia, he partnered with Minima Arqiutectos, to implement corporate, retail and hospitality projects to his portfolio. In 2009, Andrés formed his company and New York became the international hub for his work.
What drives you to design?
The constant feeling of re-inventing and re-imagining things. It's all about the concept, the aesthetics and the visual. The excitement of presenting a new idea and therefore changing a lifestyle is what drives me to design. For me it's not just about the space and the elements, it's more about creating an experience.
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
Big cities, nature and the human body.
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
One of the things I like most about design, is its constant evolution. It's something that never stops changing. The most important aspect I like about it, is how it can dramatically improve people's lives.
