Project Description

We have lived in our new house for 5 months. We are slowly working on each room but we are really ready to transform our large basement open space into an industrial/inspiring room for music and fun.

What do you currently dislike about the room?

We moved into this house 5 months ago and want to create a basement space that is great for adults and kids. Basically starting from scratch.

We want to create a room that is fun, really inspires just by the environment, and fits the function of music room/activity room.

We LOVE industrial/eclectic feel/ but not sleek and contemporary. More like old world/ industrial.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?

1. We love our brown leather couch (37 inches wide and 98 inches long). We would like to keep that in the design. It has a right side extension (37 inches wide and 53 inches long), **** we don't have to have it in the design but can if works****
2. All of the musical instruments: drums, electric piano, small amp. These things take up floor space. The guitars can hang/ incorporated into the wall art or something: 2 bass guitars, 2 acoustic guitars, 2 cigar box guitars.
3. 2 industrial pulley lights. The pulley extends 13 inches from the wall. The cage is 5.25 in diameter and 13 inches high.
4. Ping pong table for the kids: 9ft by 5ft.
5. we need somewhere to put a receiver for music (open to a new media cabinet or table)
6. The sump pump has a raised wall area. We were thinking of putting a faux table top on this and keep the two industrial stools on either side for seating and place to put drinks and such. See images about what we want to incorporate. (just an idea we had)

Additional comments to designers

We love the idea of a panel accent wall or walls. We love the idea of faux ceiling beams, door beams and window beams. We hate our carpet, but can't put in hard flooring, so thinking the best thing to do is use rugs to incorporate floor space into the design as well.

Living Room:

Since your room gets little sunlight a warm or rich color will make the room look more luminous and feel more like the warm pub atmosphere you are looking for.

For your main color, we chose to use a deep taupe color to create a warm space.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
