I want this to be a "wow" but useable space that is timeless, but also easy to clean/maintain, with lots of natural light, and that really complements the living/dining room. Here are links to the applicable Pinterest boards:

The attached picture is one of the biggest inspo images I've found. I'm not necessarily sure I like it down to all the details/finishes, but the "bones" of it are perfect.
That said, I lean toward white cabinets, but I worry doing all cabinets in that style will be too white. I also worry about keeping them clean. I have seen lots of images recently w/ two-tone kitchens (black, navy, wood islands, etc.), and they are pretty. I also like the boldness of dark colors, but I don't want anything i'm going to get tired of too quickly, that will go out of style too quickly, etc. Again, timelessness is really important to me.
Although I love marble, I'm not sure it's the surface for us. I am sure I won't take care of it like I should. I like the look of marble, but I'm not sure I want "imitation marble" quartz. Though, I like quartz (and quartzite, for that matter). It is probably clear that I lean toward white/light counters, but would consider using a different material on island v. perimeter counters (e.g., soapstone, quartz, butcher block).
I am also into either white appliance (like GE's cafe' series or kitchenaide's 48 inch white range) or cabinet front appliances. I'm not sure I love the look of tons of stainless steel - but, I'm sure with the right overall design, I could be persuaded otherwise.
I would like to see some sort of architectural detail in the kitchen. I lean toward beams in the dining/living area, so I think something that complements that versus mimicks it, is the better approach. Maybe shiplap/tongue and groove on the ceiling or a "tray" that has wood/beams in the insert? I'm not really sure, I just don't want a big white ceiling.
The cabinets in the top/right side are going to be a wet bar.
My overarching thought is that I want something that has character and doesn't look totally "new build."

This is the room I'm having the hardest time figuring out what I want in. I do know that I want something that has an organic feel to it. Currently, the plans specify a free-standing tub, but I'm not sure whether we'll end up w/ a drop in. We will have a walk in shower w/o a door.
As to floors - I just don't want anything bright white. We have dark hair and it would just be a pain to keep clean.

Because this is new construction, we have a blank canvas. Here are links to applicable Pinterest boards:I intend to put the dining table on the left side of the room/by the stairs. The windows on the right side of the room will be larger than currently drawn. I would like chairs that (mostly) fit under the table/that don't stick out too far. I would like a table that seats 8, or that can expand to a larger size.
I like the idea of layering with architectural details. I see opportunities on the walls (possibly shiplap or tongue and groove wood - but not in a super "Joanna Gaines" way), beams on the 10' ceilings, black trim on windows, brick/stone/wood on the fireplace, etc.
My current plan is to "wall" the staircase in, instead of having railing all the way up. I can be convinced otherwise, but this seems to give some balance to the space.
Because this room flows right into the kitchen, the two rooms will ultimately have to really blend together and complement each other.
I also have two young kids, as well as cats and dogs. So, I try I prefer materials that are going to be durable, easy to clean, etc.
Ultimately, I like light and airy with pops of color (jewel tones?), but also a vintage/boho vibe. Basically, I'm all over the place :)

Kitchen:
Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.
For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious. Same white as elsewhere in the house - ideal paint color for this is Alabaster. For your secondary color, we chose to use blue because it is calming, relaxing, and serene. It ris reminiscent of blue skies and deep blue oceans. This color can help turn your space into a soothing sanctuary. For blue accents in the Kitchen: I have provided (3) options, the lightest one taking the paint a very light gray with only a hint of blue. You'll need to get samples (and likely more samples than this) to see where you land in terms of the natural daylight and how bold you're feeling. We are showing Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue, but it is darker than I think you really want, so I'd test a few colors and send me photos!! Keep me posted!
Use a semi-gloss paint finish on the blue cabinets, as it is ideal for bathrooms and cabinets. It has a slight shine and is easy to clean. Use an eggshell finish paint on all walls and white shiplap, it has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
