Additional comments to designers

Patio needs to house dining table (ideally for eight), gas grill and maybe small seating by fireplace. Porch needs a place for conversation or reading a book.

We are in MidAtlantic so need durable low maintenance and comfortable furniture that can handle rain and snow.

House is being painted light gray, shutters will be either black or charcoal, and trim, including pergola will be white

Note edited floor plan, length of porch and patio is 33 feet.

Please no Pottery Barn or West Elm furniture

Patio:

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use a satin finish paint which has a bit more gloss than eggshell finish and is a little smoother. This finish is often used for windows, doors, trim, and ceilings, but can also be ideal walls in kids’ rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and other high-traffic areas because it is easier to clean than eggshell finish.
