What do you currently dislike about the room?

We like many of the pieces in the room but it just doesn’t hold together. For a long time we had more of an early American feeling but we wanna update that and make the room a more inviting place to sit and read and socialize. The fireplace is it working gas fireplace. The couch is a bit small and not that comfortable to sit on and would like a larger couch that’s very comfortable and inviting. We recently purchased the two small chairs in paisley by the window and the long chaise lounge under the picture of the cow. We live in an English brick tutor house with lots of exposed wood And we’ve done some renovations to make it more light filled by taking down the wall between the dining room and kitchen which sits on the opposite side of the front door from this room. The room feels a bit too long for us with and we like to take a vantage of that with the new design to make it feel more proportion.

What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?

See above. In addition we have two new expensive lamps that we just purchased one to the left of the couch which is a thin black polo with the desk on the top and the other is a standing circular lamp with a glass goblets hanging from it. It would be nice to incorporate the rubber tree plant if possible but not if it is not easily accommodated

Living Room:

Since your room gets plenty of sunlight your color options are quite broad.

For your main color, we chose a warm gray because it is neutral and seen as elegant and classy. It compliments many colors such as white, blue, and yellow and works well as part of a color scheme in any room. You can also lighten the tone by having your paint store cut the color by 25%, 50% or even 75%.

Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
