Katy D.
Katy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design and Construction Management and nearly 10 years behind her as a residential Interior Designer. She has a unique familiarity of both lifestyles: the spacious & steady, and the compact & quick-paced - allowing her to easily adapt to the ever-changing design world. Katy has great communication with her clients and always puts their needs & desires first, as she is a firm believer that a good design is a design well-tailored to the person living in the space at the end of the day - or during!
Describe your go-to style:
My go-to design style is tailored and classic, with the slightest touch of unexpected flair. Timeless design that never goes out of style. A good design is one that speaks the most to the end user above all else. I never let my personal aesthetic cloud my designing for a client, and I love really getting to know my client's sense of style. Even when they don't know what their style is, it is my job to use my expertise & pick up on clues that help to pave the path.
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
I love creating well-balanced compositions of furnishings, shapes, and textures. It makes me so happy when everything is connecting and the pieces "talk" to each other. I love the final phase of adding the finishing touches to a space, like art and accessories, and I LOVE incorporating artwork that has a story behind it that's unique to the client.
From where do you draw most of your inspiration?
Instagram! I love following design professionals whose creativity I am most inspired by, or who my design style connects the most to. My favorites that I am following right now are Kelly Wearstler, Summer Thornton, Steven Gambrel, Elle Decor, and Interior Design Magazine.
