It's just a mish-mash of random furniture and it doesn't look classy at all. What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?
I JUST changed the fireplace tile to the stuff seen in the picture (it's not fully complete yet, it still needs grout and to be cleaned), and the wall sconces as well. I'd like to keep them, since I think they fit the style I'm going for, but if necessary, I am open to anything. Are you open to changing your wall colors?

Living Room:
To achieve a dramatic impact, adding a darker saturated color as an accent will create an atmosphere that is both masculine and elegant.
As to the rest of the walls, it would be nice to preserve your existing color as it will coordinate with the rest of the first level and tie everything together.
Use an eggshell finish paint which has a very light touch of shine (similar texture to an eggshell as implied by its name). This finish is very often used for walls and is more durable and easier to clean than matte finish
