Modern Mediterranean Living Room Design Project Description
Hi! We're just about to move into a new space and are looking to design our living room from the ground up, no existing pieces of furniture.Two main things:
1. The house has a very distinct Mediterranean style, so definitely want to play into that!
2. This particular room doesn't get as much light as the rest of the house, so want to brighten it as much as possible.
3. I generally prefer light/warm neutrals, but would love a few pops of color to tie everything together. Also going through a boucle phase lol (who isn't)

I think my biggest concern is that it's one of the darker rooms in the house. House faces NorthEast so it gets some morning sun, but not much light throughout the day. What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?
Nothing! We're starting fresh and moving from a smaller apartment, so no existing furniture. Are you open to changing your wall colors?

Living Room:
Since your room gets little sunlight a warm or rich color will make the room look more luminous
For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious. For your secondary color, we chose to use brown as it reminds us of nature and has a relaxing quality that is easy on the eye. Darker browns work well as accent colors and lighter hues like tan and beige can match and unify most rooms. For your accent color, we chose to use green because it is soothing to the eye. It reminds us of nature and has a refreshing, stress-relieving quality. Green is suitable for any room. In bedrooms, it’s relaxing and pleasing, while in dining rooms it promotes overall balance and health. This soothing color encourages relaxation or tranquility but has enough warmth to encourage comfort and harmony.
Use a satin finish paint which has a bit more gloss than eggshell finish and is a little smoother. This finish is often used for windows, doors, trim, and ceilings, but can also be ideal walls in kids’ rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and other high-traffic areas because it is easier to clean than eggshell finish.
