Project Description

I have a small ca. 1960s home and I would like to redo my living room. Since the house is small, the room serves as the centerpoint for the home. I not only entertain here, but this is the place where we come to crash on the sofa to watch tv. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and have trees surrounding my home so the rooms don't get much outside light. i have tried utilizing color on the walls but it just makes the room look really dark. I am having a hard time figuring out how best to arrange the furniture in the living room and, which style of sofa would work best in my small room.

Living Room:

Since your room is smaller using a light and pale color will enhance the light and the space in your room. Painting the walls a clean white will allow the furniture to stand out as the focal points and allow the room to feel brighter and open. Paint the window frame in a matte black to really add contrast as well as make the window stand out better.

For your main color, we chose to use white/off-white as it offers a fresh, clean, feel to the space. White and off-white colors are often a favorite for walls because they are light, neutral, and match most color schemes. They are known to make rooms feel more airy and spacious.

Use a matte finish paint because it will be helpful in camouflaging those surface imperfections such as bumps and cracks as it does not reflect light.
