Stefany R.
After spending the majority of her school days deep in concentration on art projects, she thought she would make art more than just a hobby and decided to study art. There, she switched gears from still life drawing and came to love the art of challenging physical space to make it equally functional, comfortable and beautiful.
Since then, she has worked for several boutique design firms. While working on projects with limitless budgets allows exposure to some really incredible artists, designers, antiques and fancy finishes, she is also quite interested in the challenge of conducting a beautiful and intricate space within a limited budget. Working on both types of projects simultaneously keeps her sharp as far as problem-solving but also up to date with current market trends.
We know you love designing, but what about it do you love most?
The most satisfying part of a design project is a toss up between seeing the vision come together in install and witnessing a happy end-user in the space.
Describe your favorite project:
My favorite project was a 5-story townhouse on the Upper East Side where the client was willing to take risks with color, pattern and scale. We made some radical design choices and the fun we had designing directly translated into its final appearance. The end result was a series of rooms that each had a different story to tell, some louder than others, and as a cohesive whole it was equipped with dramatic lighting, rich texture, layering of patterns and a pop-art infusion. The design lent an unexpected element of funk to a historical townhouse.
Describe your go-to style:
I gravitate towards sleek forms, clean lines, assorted textures, natural fibers, graphic patterns, slighltly muted and/or deep colors, and accessories with a rich history.
