Transitional Modern Living and Dining Room Transformation Project Description
ADMIN: The project includes foyer/ hallway decor consultations My wife and I need help with our living room, dining room, downstairs sitting room/lounge/bar, and foyer. Our vibe lies midway between casual and formal. We tend to lead more towards the rustic modern/transitional style.
We would like to keep the great living room the color it is now, which is a cream/tan shade. However, they have carried that color throughout the majority of the house which we think is a little too much. We are up for painting the walls in the front living room and dining room since they're a lot more manageable.

It’s a new house so we aren’t sure about the sun yet. These photos are from the seller but we actually think she had it pretty well put together. However, ideally we would have more seating. Maybe a larger couch/sectional and 1 chair instead of how she has it? Also no large entertainment center like hers. We would like to have a shorter one with the TV directly mounted to the wall overtop of it. If we could keep the window treatments and somehow incorporate those colors into a refreshed, cozy design that would be perfect. We really don’t want to paint the walls but if there is a design that blows us away, we would reconsider. Finally, we think that ceiling fan has to go. A nice light fixture would probably be a great statement piece for the room. What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?
Window treatments if possible. Nothing else in the room will stay. We have no rugs to put in this room but we will not change the hardwood floors.Are you open to changing your wall colors?

Masculine What type of sunlight does this room receive?
Very little sunlight What do you currently dislike about the room?
They currently use this room as an office. There is no door and we feel like a better use of this space would be something like a sitting room with a bar. I have 100+ bottles whiskey (many of which are very collectible) and my wife loves wine. We would love to transform this space into something that’s more conversational with a nice bar that has the capacity to contain most of my whiskey bottles. This room will definitely be more on the masculine side than neutral. Bold, unique colors like a cool hotel bar are encouraged. With all of this in mind, space is an issue since the room is only 12L X 10 W. If you go over budget, that’s ok. We will save and wait to order so that we can do it right. We view this room as kind of the cherry ontop of the downstairs that will be used for entertaining. What pieces of existing furniture, lighting, art or accessories do you want to keep in the design?
We have no existing furniture. Also, I'm not sure what a “floor cover”means but I assume that means rugs. The wood floors in the house are beautiful and we have no desire to change them. However, we have no rugs or anything else for this space so feel free to go nuts and design something really interesting. Are you open to changing your wall colors?

I added some inspiration photos to one of the sections above! We both feel like a darker color with bold contrasts in lighting and accent colors would look best. Definitely a lounge feel with maybe an accent wall? Maybe some sconce lights for the walls since there is no overhead lighting set up in that room. Definitely prefer the look of leather seating over fabric in this room but let’s see what you can come up with. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions! Budget

Not sure how much sunlight this room receives since we haven’t moved in yet. However, there is only 1 window towards the front of the room. We would like to keep this room classy and more on the simple side. We will need a table and chairs, buffet, rug, wall decor, and probably some new lighting along with different color blinds. This room is a blank slate so have fun with it. We will do whatever if we like the design Are you open to changing your wall colors?
